Some interesting aspects about very-small-town life in 2011.
I’m recommended this post office down the road a piece – they say it’s never crowded. They are right. I pull up to this tiny building. It’s easy to find. Right off the main road (or only road). I’m the only one in the parking lot.
Clerk looks at me quizzically. She’s polite, but she knows I’m not from here. I do my business, she says the perfunctory “have a good day.” I note that they say that in small towns, too; it’s not just a California thing. And I move on.
The parking lot is now completely full. A crowd of two has arrived.
